Third grade observes and discusses the properties of fruits and seeds.
What is a fruit? What is a seed? Why are these structures Important to the plant? In their life science unit called Structures of Life, 3rd graders will learn and observe that plants and animals have specific structures for specific functions.
The photo at the left shows a lima bean that has been opened by a student. The students can identify the seed coat, cotyledon and embryo and know the functions of each structure.
